rk4_step
std.func.rk4_step · Level L0One classical Runge–Kutta step for y′ = f(y): y + (h/6)(k₁ + 2k₂ + 2k₃ + k₄) with k₁ = f(y), k₂ = f(y + (h/2)k₁), k₃ = f(y + (h/2)k₂), k₄ = f(y + h·k₃). The body rk4 scans; a template over the vector field f.
Signature
rk4_step(y: f64[n], h: f64[]) → f64[n]
Structure
The function as NOVA stores it: one box per input, operation and output, and arrows that carry values. A double border marks another library function this one runs — called once, or by Scan once per element; select it to open that function.

Verification
- Signature proven by NOVA’s shape solver, for every size.
- Agrees with the reference
witness f = silu: one RK4 step written outto 80 digits (100-digit arithmetic), on all 40 test cases. - All 154 float64 results inside the running error bound; the closest uses 49% of it.
- Interpreter and NumPy backend return bit-identical results.
- At float32 too: the 40 test cases rounded to float32, and 40 of them inside the running error bound at u = 2⁻²⁴; the closest uses 55% of it.
- correctly rounded (the float64 nearest the exact value)
- 82%
- bit-equal to the NumPy formula in float64
- 86%
- largest error, in units in the last place
- 1.53
Note
The witness is silu, x·σ(x). A rational field such as softsign would also do, but over many steps its exact rationals grow without bound; silu's verification runs at 100 digits.

- no capability: a pure function
Through NOVA’s control layer, the symbol launches this function only while the program still matches what it pins: a change to this graph, or to any graph it reaches, needs a migration first.
